Who We Are

Muslim Burial Fund is a programme of 13 Rivers Trust. Muslim Burial Fund offer assistance and support to needy Muslims to meet the traditional burial cost. We provide pre-burial and direct burial support including the washing, shrouding, funeral prayer and the actual burial. We do not support the cremation of any Muslim persons known or unknown.

Our Beneficiaries

Muslim Burial Fund is targeted at Muslims who face difficulty and hardship. Muslim Burial Fund supports those who are eligible for zakat and are socially isolated.

This includes:

  • People with no legal status in the UK
  • People with limited family support
  • Muslim Revert

Average burial cost across Britain

With land prices increasing traditional burial costs have been rising and many needy families are opting for cremation because it is a cheaper option. The cremation rate in the United Kingdom has been steadily increasing with the national average rate rising from 34.70 percent in 1960 to 78 percent to current year (www.gov.uk).

In the UK over three quarters of funerals end in a cremation, this means around 375,000 cremations are taking place annually.
